dc.description.abstract This Report describes an integral method for predicting the behaviour of turbulent boundary layers in two-dimensional and axisymmetric, compressible flows. It is believed to be a significant improvement upon, and was developed as a replacement for, the version! of Head's2 entrainment method which has been in use in R.A.E. for some years. At the cost of a fractional increase in computing time-three simultaneous ordinary differential equations have to be integrated, as compared with two in Head's method-the new method is consistently the more accurate, particularly in its predictions of the test cases of the Stanford Conference on Computation of Turbulent Boundary Layers. en_US
