The spray formed by two impinging liquid jets was investigated over a jet velocity range of 5 to 100 feet per second to determine the characteristics of this method of atomization. At low velocities the spray pattern was a smooth sheet completely surrounded by a liquid rim. As jet velocity increased, the rim separated at the downstream end.
