The design and performance of a turbine to drive a supersonic compressor are presented in order to determine the problems that would be encountered in turbines required to drive high-speed, high-weight-flow compressors. A 14-inch cold-air model of this turbine was built and operated over a range of speed from 30 percent to 130 percent design speed and over a wide range of total-pressure ratios.
