In order to determine the causes of horizontal-tail flutter which had been observed on a fighter airplane, a wind-tunnel investigation was conducted of a production, half-span, horizontal tail. The longitudinal control system of the airplane comprised a radius nose, unbalanced elevator, and a full power-boost system.
