To determine the skin friction and heat transfer on the surfaces of high-speed missiles, it is necessary to know certain characteristics of the boundary layers. These characteristics are: the temperature recovery, the skin-friction coefficients and the heat-transfer coefficients of both the laminar and turbulent boundary layers and, also, the position of the transition from laminar to turbulent flow.
