Analysis, verification, and application of equations and procedures for design of exhaust-pipe shrouds

Results are presented of an investigation to develop simplified methods for designing exhaust-pipe shrouds to provide desired or maximum cooling of exhaust installations in which the dynamic pressure of flight is utilized to force the cooling air through the shroud. Design equations derived from fundamental laws of heat transfer and pressure drop are given for parallel- and counter-flow exhaust-pipe-shroud systems.
